Sub-Scape presents the underground sound of Berlin with special guest Substance aka DJ Pete, this friday 5 february at Café Capital ANTWERP.
AS As an eye witness to techno’s zero hour in Berlin, DJ Pete became one of the early forces that would shape the German capital’s underground dance scene for years to come.
His Scion project with Rene Lowe aka Vainqueur gave life to chain reaction, twin label of Basic Channel, subsequently their mentors, Mark Ernestus ad Moritz Von Oswald (Maurizio/ Rhytm & Sound), selected Scion to represent the sound of Basic Channel in an experiment that culminated in the extraordinary mix cd ‘Scion – Arrange And Process Basic Chanell Tracks’.
Alongside the Scion plan, Pete carried another project: Substance. His 1996 track ‘Relish’ was a pivotal release on Chain Reaction. Peter also produced the much respected ‘Latifah’ release on Surgeon’s counterbalance imprint.
As a remixer, Pete has turned his handto productions from renowned artists as Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Mikkel Metal, Rythm&Sound and Monolake
DJ Pete’s experience spanning two decades shines through when he spins. His sets comprise a wide range of the most crucial music of the last 20 years while always staying open for new sounds and influences, currently resulting in him spicing up his sets with a lot of dubstep verging on techno.
Peter will play a set lasting ar least 3 hours with Subreachers and Will O’Brein heating up the bassbins in advance!
